After some lengthy deliberation and discussion with Arizona Events Group, promoter of the White Mountains Hot Air Balloon Festival, we have reached the difficult decision to postpone this weekend’s event due to the high probability of heavy rains and possible thunderstorms created by Tropical Storm Bud. Weather models call for up to 2 inches of rain from Friday through Sunday, including the potential for dangerous lightning in the area. We want to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone and at this time, we may not be able to achieve that if we were to proceed. While we are disappointed that Balloon Festival will not proceed this weekend as scheduled, we are grateful for the likelihood of the much needed rain in our area. We are looking at rescheduling this event for the fall. To all of our sponsors, vendors, retailers, bands, balloon pilots and most importantly to people who have purchased tickets or planned to attend, we extend our regrets. All sponsors and vendors will be contacted by the end of the day with additional details. For additional information please contact net@azeventsgroups.com or talba@pinetoplakesideaz.gov.
